Our Story
It Started Long Before the Name.
Red Comb BBQ Co. didn't begin with a business plan. It began around the grill, making sauce for family and friends and trying to make each batch a little better than the one before it.
The Beginning
Where It All Started
It started the way most good things do — not with a plan, but with a habit. For years, the holiday season meant one thing in the kitchen: making large batches of homemade BBQ sauce to give away as Christmas gifts. Family, friends, coworkers — everyone got a jar.
In the beginning it was mason jars, hand-labeled and sealed with care. Over time, as the tradition grew, those jars gave way to bottled sauces with proper seals and printed labels. The batches got a little bigger. The recipes got a little sharper. The feedback got a little louder.
People started asking for more. Not just at the holidays — throughout the year. And slowly, the idea of Red Comb began to take shape. What had started as something made for the people closest to us started to feel like something worth sharing with a larger audience.
Handcrafted in small batches — the way it's always been.
The Philosophy
Built One Batch at a Time
Red Comb wasn't created overnight. The recipes were adjusted, tested and refined over years of cooking, sharing and listening to feedback. A tweak here, a change there — each batch informed the next.
"A sauce should accentuate the food, not be the flavor."
— Adam
That philosophy guides everything in the Red Comb lineup — the sauces, the rubs, the marinades. The goal is always the same: build flavor, complement what's being cooked and let the food remain the star. The cook put in the work. The sauce should honor that.
The Name
From a Tradition to Red Comb
Eventually the yearly tradition needed a name, an identity and somewhere to go next. That became Red Comb BBQ Co.
The rooster, the fire and the name represent the personality that grew around those years of cooking and sharing food. It's not a corporate identity built in a boardroom — it's a reflection of the people, the kitchens and the gatherings that made it what it is.
Red Comb is personal. It came from something real, and that's the only way it was ever going to work.
How We Do Things
Professional in execution.
Never corporate in personality.
Always leave room for humor.
We take the food, the testing and the work seriously.
Ourselves? Not quite as much.
Red Comb BBQ Co. should always feel like smoke, stories, a little sarcasm, a good pour and people who actually want to be here.

Looking Ahead
What Comes Next
Red Comb is being built deliberately and responsibly. The plan is a 2027 launch, and the focus right now is on getting everything right before anything is offered commercially — the products, the processes and the business itself.
There's no rush to get to market before the work is done. The same care that went into every batch over the years is going into building the company. That's the only way to do it right.
This is just the beginning.
It All Starts With a Match. 🔥
